Terms of Service

Effective date: 22 March 2026

1. About LocaleIQ

LocaleIQ (“we”, “us”, “our”) is an online information service that aggregates publicly available data — including crime statistics, planning applications, licensed HMO registers, roadworks, deprivation indices, Census 2021 demographics, and school information — and presents it in a single report for any given UK postcode or address.

By accessing or using LocaleIQ (the “Service”) you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Information Only — Not Professional Advice

All content produced by LocaleIQ is for general informational purposes only. It does not constitute, and must not be relied upon as, legal, financial, property, surveying, planning, or any other professional advice.

Reports, scores, trend summaries, school profiles, area comparisons, and any other output of the Service are derived from third-party datasets that may be incomplete, delayed, or inaccurate. Before making any property purchase, rental, investment, or relocation decision you should obtain independent professional advice from a suitably qualified solicitor, surveyor, estate agent, financial adviser, or other relevant professional.

LocaleIQ expressly disclaims any responsibility for decisions made — or not made — based on information displayed on or derived from the Service.

3. Data Sources and Accuracy

We source data from third parties including, but not limited to:

  • UK Police API (crime and outcomes data)
  • Local authority planning portals (e.g. Camden Council and others)
  • Local authority licensed HMO registers
  • Street Manager / DfT (roadworks notifications)
  • Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government (MHCLG) deprivation indices
  • Office for National Statistics (ONS) / Census 2021
  • School profiles (individual school pages and the schools map), including:
    • Department for Education — Get Information About Schools (GIAS) for establishment details (name, address, phase, capacity, and related fields);
    • Ofsted — inspection ratings, inspection dates, and published sub-judgements;
    • DfE statistical publications — including Key Stage 2 attainment and progress, GCSE outcomes (e.g. Attainment 8, Progress 8, English and Maths thresholds, EBacc measures where published), and post-16 progression to higher education where published;
    • School census (and related DfE releases) — pupil numbers and characteristics such as ethnicity where the department publishes them at school level;
    • Ofsted Parent View — aggregated survey results where available.
  • Ordnance Survey and other geospatial data providers

School pages do not show per-field “last updated” timestamps. We refresh our database from these sources on a schedule; the academic or reporting year of a statistic (e.g. a given KS2 or GCSE cohort) may not match the date we last ingested the underlying file. Always refer to the original publisher for definitive figures and methodology.

We make reasonable efforts to keep data current, but we do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or fitness for any particular purpose of any data displayed. Data coverage is not uniform across the United Kingdom; at the time of writing, detailed planning and HMO data is primarily available for selected London boroughs and certain other local authorities. Coverage will change without notice.

Crime figures represent recorded crime as reported to the relevant police force and are subject to reporting biases, reclassification, and retrospective correction. They are not a reliable indicator of actual crime levels or personal safety.

4. No Liability for Property Decisions

To the fullest extent permitted by law, LocaleIQ and its directors, employees, and contractors shall not be liable for any loss or damage — including but not limited to loss of profit, loss of savings, loss on property transaction, or any consequential, indirect, or special damage — arising from your use of, or reliance on, any information provided by the Service.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

5. Beta Service

LocaleIQ is currently in beta. The Service is provided “as is” and as available” without any warranty of uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or continued availability. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature or the entire Service at any time and without notice. We will not be liable to you or any third party for any such modification, suspension, or discontinuation.

8. Intellectual Property

The selection, arrangement, and presentation of data, together with all software, design, text, and graphics on the Service, are the intellectual property of LocaleIQ or its licensors. The underlying third-party datasets remain the property of their respective owners and are subject to their own licences (including the Open Government Licence v3.0 where applicable).

You may print or download individual reports for your own personal, non-commercial use. No other reproduction or distribution is permitted without our prior written consent.

12. Changes to These Terms

Your continued use of the Service after any such change constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the Service.

13. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except that if you are a consumer resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence.
