The best schools in the UK cannot be reduced to one newspaper list or one exam metric. This page is LocaleIQ's UK-wide school rankings hub: how many schools are in the tracked pool, where ranking data is already live, how the mix splits by phase, and which city guides currently deserve a click.
Search demand around best schools in the UK is usually really a mix of narrower intents: best schools in England, best schools in Scotland, best grammar or post-primary schools in Northern Ireland, and best primary or secondary schools in a specific city. This hub is built to answer that full query chain instead of forcing one flat ranking across incompatible datasets.
The numbers below show where LocaleIQ already has a live comparable ranking model and where coverage is still maturing. That makes this page useful both as a reader-facing comparison and as the internal index for every city-level best-schools route.
Nation cards show both the tracked directory pool and the narrower ranked subset, which is the important distinction on this route. Wales is visible here precisely because it is not ranked yet.

Scottish attainment live
Scottish rankings use the SQA / Insight-style attainment and destination fields already loaded into LocaleIQ, so the best Scottish pages are comparable inside Scotland rather than to England headline measures.
Directory only for now
Welsh schools are in the directory, but phase normalisation and score generation are not live yet. That is why the UK page shows coverage, but no ranking links or top-5 list for Wales.
Secondary-led coverage
Northern Ireland currently has scored post-primary schools. Primary coverage is present in the directory, but primary ranking pages stay suppressed until a comparable score is live.
These counts focus on rows where phase is normalised enough to compare. That is why the phase section is more useful for ranked planning than the raw nation totals.
17,322 ranked · 89% of this phase currently scoreable.
3,625 ranked · 97% of this phase currently scoreable.
375 ranked · 80% of this phase currently scoreable.
277 ranked · 95% of this phase currently scoreable.
165 ranked · 88% of this phase currently scoreable.
31 ranked · 24% of this phase currently scoreable.
If you are comparing broad national patterns, start with the nation cards and the top five lists. If you are actually choosing between schools for a move, the compact city index below is the better next step because it leads straight into the ranking pages for that local market.
The city pages stay phase-aware: where data is strong enough you will see all-schools, primary and secondary routes; where it is not, those links are intentionally suppressed. That prevents index bloat and keeps the internal linking graph clean.
Top lists are shown only where a real score exists. That makes the absence of a Wales list informative instead of decorative.

Directory only for now
Welsh schools are tracked, but ranked pages are not live yet.
Secondary-led coverage
The link sets below follow the same availability rules as the data: no dead primary pages for Northern Ireland, no Welsh links until scoring exists, and post-primary naming where that fits the jurisdiction better.
Largest ranked pool
City guides with all, primary and secondary ranking pages where data is live.
Scottish attainment live
Scottish city pages surface the ranking variants that have enough live scored schools.
Secondary-led coverage
NI city pages expose all-schools and post-primary links where the ranking exists.
LocaleIQ shows live top-ranked schools by nation rather than pretending one methodology fits every education system. England, Scotland and Northern Ireland already have ranked school pools; Wales is currently directory-only until scoreable national fields are live.
The UK hub shows overall coverage and national leaders, but phase-specific ranking still matters. Use the city guide links for all-schools, primary and secondary views where those comparisons are live.
Welsh schools are in the LocaleIQ directory, but score generation and phase normalisation are not live yet. The page keeps Wales visible as a coverage note rather than publishing a weak or misleading ranking.
